COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Intro to Algebra Principles will focus on the various tools of math and how to apply them to real world problems.  Major topics include transformational geometry, linear equations, functions, statistics and probability, real numbers, the Pythagorean theorem, exponents, scientific notation, and volume.

  • Pencils
  • Calculator (optional)

CURRICULAR TOPICS:

  • Transformational Geometry
  • Linear Equations and Applications
  • Relationships and Functions
  • Statistics and Probability
  • Real Numbers and The Pythagorean Theorem
  • Exponents, Scientific Notation, and Volume

    GRADES:

    Grades will be based on the following types of assignments.  Percentages are approximate and may vary slightly from one unit to the next.

  • Classwork/Homework (~50%)
  • Waggle (~20%)
  • Unit Tests (~30%)

 BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Bring all required materials to class every day.
  • Be in your seat with your materials out when the tardy bell rings.
  • Come to class ready to learn.
  • Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
  • Listen and follow directions the first time.
  • Respect everyone in the room: yourself, other students, and teachers.
  • Treat all school property and equipment properly.
  • Follow school rules and policies as stated in the student handbook.
